Straitened Circumstances The Gulf of Oman's oil transfer activity has slowed significantly since recent attacks on vessels by Iranian forces in the region.
According to satellite analysis and sources, the pace of STS transfers – ship to ship transfers that enable oil to leave the Gulf despite threats to commercial vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz – has declined.
Since February, the practice of STS transfers has allowed oil to be transported out of the Gulf using makeshift routes near the Iranian or Omani coast.
